Southend United F.C. is one of the largest Junior Soccer Clubs in Waterford City with a growing membership of almost 200 players and coaches. Located in the centre of the city, adjoining many schools, housing estates and business parks, it is easy accessible from all routes and is situated adjacent to the outer ring road.

Membership is open to all schoolboys and schoolgirls from the ages of 6yrs to 18yrs and adult players, volunteers and parents.

SUNDAY MORNING COACHING SESSIONS - AGES 5 - 8

Every Sunday morning between 11am and 12pm we take kids aged between 5 and 8 years and give them an hour of football. The kids enjoy themselves and learn the very basics of the game. Our aim is to foster teamwork and skill and to make every minute fun. We believe at this age kids should not be concerned about winning or losing. This puts restraints on their use of skill as the fear of making a mistake and being the cause of losing is at the front of their minds. We try to get them to use the simple basic skills we show them no matter where they get the ball in our small sided games.
If you want to get your child started in football or just want to get them some exercise in a good atmosphere and the fresh air, take them along to our grounds. You are more than welcome to stay and watch if you like. We do charge a small fee of €2 for every session which is paid on the day. We do our practice on an Astro Turf surface so runners are required and at this time of the year plenty of warm clothing.
