13A Carrick 1 Southend 3
A long season with many twists, turns, ups and downs came to an end with our boys being crowned league champions in Carrick. Needing a point to claim the title we started well creating a few chances early on, but got caught cold on the break and found ourselves a goal down after 5 minutes. Heads didn’t drop though, we stuck to the plan and were level soon after when Rhedeem Eddy eventually buried the equaliser after a real scramble from a corner kick. Jay Bagge made it 2-1 with a lovely goal after great interplay between him and Shane O’Sullivan. Shane got our third soon after, coolly finishing after collecting the ball in the centre circle. Carrick never stopped and could’ve been back in it only for a great goal-line clearance by Charlie Power. Azeez Alabi was confident between the sticks all game, a real hero of this team.,Ben Boland, Ben Cahill, Bojan Bojanic all played their parts solidly. We held out, got the win and the rest is history.
Two in a row, a fantastic achievement for this team who stuck together and never gave up, despite losing three of the league’s finest players to Waterford FC in Jason Healy, Sean Keane and Adam Queally halfway through the season. Most had them written off, but they came out on top in the end.. A special mention to our u12 players who all stepped up to the mark to fill in when they were needed, Alan Zborowski, Matt Barrett, Tommy Mullally, Charlie Barden, Callum Kennedy-Dunphy, Adam Hearne, Adam Dobbyn and Mohammed Oladiti, alongside Tyron, all of whom deserve their medals every bit as much as the rest of the lads.. Huge credit to Albert and Colin for the work they’ve put into these boys all along. Well done boys you’re a credit to yourselves, your club and your family’s.
