11 Red Southend v Piltown

Under 11 played two very good games against Piltown on Saturday. There was some really good football played with plenty of goalmouth action. It was great to see all these young players from both sides keep the ball on the ground, passing it around so well in the windy conditions. There was a lot of good performances but Adam Dobbyn and Emily just shaded it for Derek’s side and Liam Murphy with some fantastic saves and Muhammad getting it for Robbie’s side. Well done to all.

SFAI Cup Last 16 Southend 3 St Brendan’s Park 2
Unbelievable win against a very good team. We played against a very strong wind in first half but went in at half time two goals to one up through Jay Bagge. The visitors came roaring back into the game after half time and scored their second after ten mins. Both teams missed chances in second half to win it but it was a great move that scored the winner two mins to go and it was Azeez who finished it off with a neat strike. There was jubilant scenes at the final whistle as these young lads are now in the last eight. Every one of these lads were absolutely brilliant today especially after losing Jason, Adam and Sean to Waterford FC, the rest stood up to be counted and lead from the off. Also have to give a special mention to the under 12 lads who were involved some of them making their debuts in a very intense game and they will learn loads from this. Adam, Alan, Matt, Tommy, Mohammad, Callum and Charlie all take a bow.

A last gasp equaliser from Bami who also scored our first goal was just rewards for an excellent all round display which probably deserved all points on the day,This result means that the league race is wide open as we enter the final stages of this league
