13A Cup Southend 1 Tramore 4

We exited the cup after a poor first half performance left us with too much to do. We were one down early on when a mis-hit cross deceived our keeper and found its way into the net. We conceded again when we failed to close down outside the area and we didn’t look comfortable at all until half time. We had a chat with ourselves and came out in the second half a completely different team, battling hard all over the pitch. We applied most of the pressure and got our reward when Mohammed was fouled inside the box. Shane O’Sullivan stepped up to the spot kick and sent the Tramore keeper the wrong way but it wasn’t enough to salvage the tie. Good to see the whole squad get game time tonight. Great effort from all the lads and a much improved second half performance but it wasn’t to be. Three huge league games left for this team now starting next week. Best of luck to Tramore and thanks again for the continued support on the line

12A Bohs 3 Southend 4

After last week’s disappointment of going out of the cup on penalties to Bohs the lads had a point to prove here and did it fantastically for 57 minutes of this game but two goals, a penalty and a brilliant individual goal from Scott Collins in the last three minutes took the shine off what was a totally dominant display from our lads. We took the lead through a brilliantly placed free kick from Adam Dobbyn ,our second came from the excellent Tommy Mullally after a Matt Barrett header crashed off the post from a corner and Tommy was there to stroke the ball into the bottom corner of the net .Our third once again came from a corner when Matt Barrett powered home a bullet header from a brilliant delivery from the excellent Adam Dobbyn .We let Bohs back into the game when we gave away a silly penalty and with ten minutes to go we made it four when the brilliant Charlie Barden sent Shane Moran clear and he’s deft touch past the keeper was touched in by Callum Kennedy Dunphy but with three minutes to go we gave away another silly penalty and a fine individual goal .We really have to give Bohs some real credit today for their never say die attitude and a very good comeback the sign of a really good side and we wish them well for the rest of the season but overall every one of our lads were great in this game the way they fought for every ball and encouraged each other. Very hard to pick a player of the game with Charlie Barden ,Alan Zborowska and Tommy Mullally shining once again but Matt Barrett was involved in everything today and defended brilliantly winning every header and tackle and popping up with an assist and a goal a real captains performance .Thanks to all the parents once again for their, support the lads and the coaches really appreciate it.
