12A Southend 0 Villa 1

A lone strike after 5 minutes was enough to take the three points for Villa after a very lacklustre display from our lads. Villa played some lovely football at times with our lads feeling the effects of the late arrival home the night before from the Blues game. We were second to every ball and we will have to pick ourselves up for the SFAI Cup next Saturday and put in a better all-round performance. Best for us was Sebastian who put in a very good performance at the back.

Under 14A League Bohs 2 Southend 2

We had to come from behind twice in a titanic battle down in Poleberry. We left a through ball go unchallenged allowing Bohs took the lead early on. We got back into the game before half time with a neat finish from Jimmy Byrne. Bohs went back in front after half time when one of our lads put the ball through his own net. Ten minutes later we equalised with a Callum Flynn penalty after a handball from one of the home defenders. You would have to credit both sets of players for going at it hard for the whole 70 mins, neither wanting to take a backward step and what a battle they served up for their families and supporters. Special mention to Azeez for making his debut in goal and he done brilliantly. Also special mention to Jack Twomey at centre back he was majestic all game and headed brilliantly off the line a certain goal late on. We are still level on top with Bohs with a game in hand so let’s get behind these lads until the end of the season.
