14A Villa 0 Southend United 2

We travelled to Connors Park on Thurs night where we came away with maximum points. We started very brightly only to spurn a couple of chances. However we deservedly took the lead when Jamie Hutchinson hit the back of the net with a cool finish. We went in search of another goal only to twice hit the crossbar and also we had a number of efforts which we went very close on. In the second half once again we were on top but we had to wait until near the end when the impressive Anthony Adenopo ran through the home defence to power home the insurance goal. On a night of a great team performance mention must go to coach Dev for sticking to his football beliefs with his team playing some excellent football throughout, hard to pick out individuals such was the strength of our display but special mention must be made of Callum Hennessey who had an impeccable display at left full for us.

Munster Junior Cup   Southend 4 Cahir Park 1

Great result here sets us up for an attractive home tie against Killarney Celtic in the quarter finals in a couple of weeks’ time invoking great memories of our exploits in the Munster Junior Cup down through the years .This was a game in which we were always on top in holding a two goal lead at the interval through John o Donnell and Joey Twomey .When Cahir got back into it with a goal midway through the second half , it looked if we might struggle to hold on only for our nerves to be settled when Aaron o Neill coolly slotted home a penalty on his return to action after a lengthy absence through injury .Highlight of the day for us was of course the introduction of young Callum Stringer with five minutes to play and within one minute of his introduction , Callum slotted home our final goal much to the delight of the home contingent.

Academy Friendly

Well one to the under 8/9 teams who played a few friendly game against Waterford Crystal. Plenty of great football was played by both teams in a very sporting manner. A special mention must go to Aaron English who stepped in to help us and even managed to chip in to with a great goal which was assisted by his big brother Alex. Also thanks to Alan and Mark who helped with the coaching of one of the teams. Thanks again lads it’s much appreciated.
