Development Games

11 Red – Southend v Bohs

Great run out on Saturday morning for all involved with a host of goals and goal mouth action provided by all the four teams on show here. Also good passages of defending and heroic goalkeeping provided great entertainment for the big attendance

U 8 & U 9 v Piltown

Another group getting a good run out were the u 8 s and u 9s who played a couple of games against a talented group of players who came down to us from Piltown. We plan to play a host of challenge games over the next few weeks, will keep everyone posted on fixtures.

SFAI Cup u 13

Southend 1 Gorey Rangers 0

Lads kept the possibility open for another good run in this competition by virtue of this hard fought win over a gallant Gorey side. Our goal came from an unlikely source, with Ben Boland popping up for a corner and despatching the winning goal into the back of the Gorey net midway through the first half.Calum Flynn went very close just before the break and early in the second half, Jack Twomey went on a marvellous run and was unfortunate to hit the post. Gorey threw the kitchen sink at us for the remainder of the game but they found Jason Healy in great form between the posts for us. On the hospitality side, thanks to Avril Quelly and Pat Twomey for helping with the refreshments on the day.

SFAI U 15 Burren Celtic 0 Southend 3

Fruitful trip away for Mick’s and Damien’s side with a comfortable win here.Salim calmed our nerves with an early goal and this was followed up by a brilliant individual effort from Dylan Rowe. Salim finished off the scoring near the end to help us move forward in this competition.

15 B Southend B 1 Villa        B 3

Much better showing for us here in a game which we led for quite a while and we played a delightful blend of football throughout.

Daryl Murphy

Well done to our former player and legendary goal scorer Daryl Murphy for his two important goals for Ireland against Moldova in the World Cup Qualifier.
